Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively describe the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in an automatic irrigation system for beef tomato farming at Agrotani, Cibodas Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency. The study was conducted in Cibodas Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency. The research method used was a mixed method. The sampling method used was purposive sampling (intentional). The data collection method used was a combination of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data processing method was data editing, coding, and tabulation. And the data analysis method used was descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis with a quantitative approach. The results of this study indicate (a) The application of Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart farming in the automatic irrigation system for beef tomato farming improves the precision of water management, operational efficiency, and supports digital monitoring, although there are still technical obstacles in nutrient distribution so that its application is not optimal. (b) The application of IoT technology in beef tomato farming affects the cost structure by increasing technology investment, but is able to reduce labor costs and generate an average income of IDR 31,330,653 per planting season.
