Abstract

Mining activities often cause significant landform changes, one of which is the formation of stockpile embankments built near river flows. In Lahat Regency, particularly at the Diversion of Kungkilan River, a stockpile slope has shown signs of landslides due to unstable soil conditions combined with external factors such as high rainfall and fluctuating loads. Therefore, further studies are needed to evaluate the slope stability and determine the appropriate geotechnical reinforcement solution. This study aims to model the slope stability of the stockpile embankment in the specified area using Plaxis 2D software with the finite element method. Additionally, the research analyzes the effectiveness of several geotechnical reinforcement types in improving the safety factor of the slope. The reinforcement models used in this study include geotube, geotextile, and a combination of both. The analysis results indicate that the slope without reinforcement has a low safety factor and is highly susceptible to further landslides. However, after applying two variations of reinforcement modeling, better shear resistance was observed. The combined use of geotextile and geotube yielded the highest safety factor, indicating that this reinforcement configuration is the most effective in stabilizing the stockpile slope in the study area.
