Abstract

The construction of the Tiga Dihaji Dam Package VI in Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan Regency, South Sumatra is a national strategic project that involves many workers, the use of heavy equipment, and high-risk work. This condition poses the potential for work accidents, so the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) is very important to create a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. This study aims to determine the level of implementation of SMK3 in the Tiga Dihaji Dam construction project Package VI, assess the suitability of the implementation with applicable procedures, and identify obstacles faced in the field. The research method used was quantitative by collecting data through observation, interviews, and distributing questionnaires to 36 respondents obtained from the calculation of the Taro Yamane formula. Data analysis was carried out by validity, reliability (Cronbach's Alpha), and correlation tests using the SPSS program version 27.0. Furthermore, scoring was carried out based on the likert scale and the classification of the success of SMK3 in accordance with PP RI No. 50 of 2012. The results of the study show that the level of implementation of SMK3 in the Package VI Tiga Dihaji Dam construction project is in the very good category, judging from the indicators of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), company policies, and the implementation of management systems in the field. The validity and reliability test of the questionnaire proved that the research instrument was feasible to use, while the scoring results showed that the average assessment of respondents was in a high success rate. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of SMK3 in this project has been effective, although there are still several obstacles such as the lack of concern of some workers for the use of certain PPE This research provides benefits for contractors and project management as an evaluation in improving the implementation of SMK3, especially in terms of compliance with the use of PPE. In addition, the results of this research can be a reference for other construction projects in implementing SMK3 standards in accordance with national regulations, as well as providing academic contributions as a reference for further research in the field of occupational safety and health.
