Abstract

THE EFFECT OF BENTONITE POWDER SUBTITUTION AND SUPERPLASTICIZER ON THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE FC 25 MPA Rahmah Adilia1, Mira Setiawati2, Adji Sutama3 ABSTRACT Rahmah Adilia/112020138/ The Effect Of Bentonite Powder Subtitution And Superplasticizer On The Compressive Strength Of Concrete Fc 25 Mpa/Civil Engineering. This research aims to determine the effect of partial substitution of cement with bentonite powder and the addition of superplasticizer on the compressive strength of concrete. The variations of bentonite powder substitution used were 0%, 5%, 8%, 10%, and 12% of the cement weight, with an additional 1.5% superplasticizer by weight of cement. The research employed an experimental method with 3 test specimens for each variation of the mixture and concrete age. A total of 45 test specimens were used in this research. The specimens consisted of normal concrete as well as concrete with 5%, 8%, 10%, and 12% bentonite, and 1.5% superplasticizer as a substitute material in the cement mixture. The test specimens were cylindrical in shape, measuring 15 cm x 30 cm, and were tested for compressive strength at the ages of 7, 21, and 28 days. The results showed that a 10% bentonite substitution combined with 1.5% superplasticizer produced the highest compressive strength. Substitution of bentonite beyond 10% significantly reduced the compressive strength. This study concludes that the combination of bentonite powder and superplasticizer positively affects concrete quality when used in the correct proportions.
