Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the factors contributing to energy loss in the clean water pipe distribution system of PDAM Bertuah Talang Kelapa Branch. Energy loss in water distribution networks can occur due to various factors, such as pipe friction, bends, changes in cross-sectional area, and elevation differences. These issues can significantly affect the efficiency of water distribution to consumers. Therefore, it is important to analyze the causes and extent of energy loss within the system. The research uses a quantitative approach based on primary data collected from field surveys and secondary data from PDAM documents. The analysis process includes calculating flow rate and velocity, followed by determining energy loss due to friction, bends, cross-sectional reduction, and elevation differences using hydraulic formulas. The data is processed to identify the amount of energy loss in each pipe segment and to determine critical points in the distribution network. The results show that the highest energy loss occurred in small-diameter and long pipes, especially in section B-B1 with an energy loss of 0.82036 meters. The lowest energy loss was found in section A1-P at 0.00935 meters. To reduce energy loss, it is recommended to use pipes with a low friction coefficient, minimize sharp bends, and optimize the pipeline design. These improvements are expected to enhance the efficiency of water distribution and the overall quality of PDAM services to the community.
