Abstract

The research aimed to find out the students’ motivation in learning listening by using TikTok at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Palembang. This research’s population was 82 students of the tenth grade and the sample of this research were 22 students of tenth grade (fashion majoring) at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Palembang. The method applied was descriptive method, where observation, documentation and questionnaire were used as the instrument data collection method consisted of 21 question items separated into 2 types of questions, which were open-ended questions and close-ended questions. This research was used the percentage to analyze the data. The result showed very high motivation with 90% of percentage by the results of questionnaire. There were intrinsic and extrinsic factor that influence the student’s motivation such as the personal interest, sense of the challenge, opportunity to grow and habits of using TikTok and sense of autonomy that enhancing the students’ motivation.
