Abstract

ABSTRACT The case study road section in front of Sukabangun II Palembang, is a type of two-way road using a median, and there are 3 lanes on each lane. The U-turn (turn around) of the case study in front of Sukabangun II Palembang often causes vehicle obstacles. because the average vehicle user who makes a U-turn at that location wants to enter Jalan Sukabangun II. Research data collection was carried out by means of field surveys. Data were taken for one week from 06:00 to 18:00 WIB. The method used in this study is to use Deductive, Quantitative, and Rationalistic methods with the Level of Service approach and traffic calculations using MKJI 1997, so as to get the level of road service, vehicle delays, and the destination of vehicles making U-turns. The results of this study showed that the volume of vehicles during rush hour occurred on Monday, namely 16:00-17:00 WIB with a total passing vehicle of 6658.2 pcu/hour for the direction of the Polda to km 9 while for the direction of km 9 to the Polda obtained on Wednesday at 16:00-17:00 WIB with a total passing vehicle of 5155 pcu/hour. From the results of the data above, between 2019 and 2023 there was an increase in traffic volume of 29.7%, with a degree of saturation of 1.29 and classified as category F. These roads cannot accommodate the very high volume of vehicles and on these roads many vehicles make U-turns with a very high intensity scale. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded to widen the road section at the location and shift the U-turn as far as 150 meters towards km 9, so that there is no accumulation of vehicles at that location.
