Abstract

ABSTRACK The Central Sumatra, Palembang, Lais Highway is an arterial road to and from the city of Sekayu, not infrequently on these roads there are traffic accidents that result in loss of life and material. The factors that cause an accident on the highway are basically caused by the ineffectiveness of a combination of the main factors, namely road conditions, road user behavior, vehicle feasibility, and weather or nature. This study was conducted to determine the location of accident-prone areas (blackspots), to determine the relationship between the value of the bend radius, degree of curvature, stopping visibility, and the accident rate. Primary data collection which includes road geometric conditions, road equipment is obtained from surveys in the field. Meanwhile, secondary accident data were obtained from the Resort Police of the Musi Banyuasin Laka Traffic Unit. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion that has been carried out, it is found that the factors that cause accidents on the Sumatra Central Cross Road STA 87+000 – STA 87+400 Sekayu-Palembang, the type of 1 lane, 2 lane roads are road user factors (humans) due to lack of understanding of accident-prone areas and because lack of traffic control warning signs. And also the road traffic is smooth so the drivers are more likely to drive at high speed which can result in an accident.
