Abstract
Oil sludge is a very dangerous pollutant, oil industry activities can generate waste that pollutes the environment. In addition, the process of drilling and oil refinery also produces large amounts of oil sludge. This study aims to determine the absorption of activated carbon made from cassava peel waste which aims to reduce the levels of petroleum waste. The process consists of two stages to be critical that carbonization and activation stages. Carbonization stage activated carbon is done by using a furnace with a temperature of 500 C. Then activated for 24 hours using 0.1 N H2SO4 solution Activated carbon is then carried to the waste oil immersion with a time difference of immersion at 22, 24, 26, 28 30 hours to determine adropsi processes that occur in petroleum waste on the content that the petroleum waste. The results showed that the effective absorption occurs in the soaking time of 26 hours, which can reduce levels of as much as 5% BOD5, COD concentration of 2.6%, oil and fat content 44%, dissolved sulfiida levels by 43%, ammonia by 14, 5%. It can be concluded that the activated carbon from cassava peel can reduce the levels of waste that contained petroleum waste. Keywords: Waste oil, cassava Leather, Adsropsi.
