Abstract

ABSTRACT Traffic is an infrastructure intended for moving vehicles, people and / or object that include of roads and supporting facilities. Jenderal Sudirman Street is a road that runs in the middle of Palembang City, which is divided into two directions, leading to the Polda Intersection and towards Ampera, which connects efficiently between national activity centers and regional activity centers, connecting all distribution service nodes. In addition, Jenderal Sudirman street also serves public transportation with the characteristics of long-distance travel with the role of distribution services for inner-city. Traffic jam often occurs on Jendral Sudirman street, because on each side of the road there are many stores, campuses, and schools. The traffic jam causes delays in vehicles speed, especially during the rush hour because a lot of vehicles are passing. A traffic space is an insfrastructure intended for moving vehicles, people and object, that include of roads and supporting facilities. The government has a goal to create a safe, secure, fast, and well-orderly traffic and public transportation. Analysis of the research conducted on Jendral Sudirman street towards the Polda Intersection is approaching the level of F service. The dominant factor of this traffic jam occurs on weekdays and at the rush hour, often low speed vehicle delays, long queues and even happened for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to further analyze of the factors that cause traffic jam, the impact of traffic jam, as well as solutions to the traffic jam. Daily traffic average, vehicle volume, vehicle speed, and road capacity data are required. Regular analysis has to be done to achieve best result. Key word : congestion, traffic, the analysis
