Abstract

Conservation comes from the word conservation which consists of the word con (together) and servare (keep / save) that has an understanding of the effort to maintain what we have (keep / save what you have), but wisely (wise use) (Indrawan et al. 2007). Decreasing conservation areas is caused by individuals, groups, organizations (entrepreneurs). This is due to a lack of knowledge of the attitudes and behavior of the community in the forest area. The purpose of this research is to find out the level of community participation in forest conservation and identify the factors that influence people's knowledge about conservation areas, so that they can provide information about factors that influence community knowledge about conservation areas. The method used was descriptive with survey research techniques where sampling techniques were carried out randomly to different communities in the villages. Determining the amount of samples is determined to be the Slovin formula. The results of this research show that Sumber Rejeki Village, the aspect of knowledge and attitude of the source village fortune is almost comparable between positive and negative, aspects of knowledge of respondents are almost the same between those who do not have knowledge and have knowledge. Tabala Jaya Village, knowledge of Tabala Jaya village respondents about forest conservation is still lacking, but the attitude and practice are positive. Knowledge aspects are almost the same between those who do not have knowledge and have knowledge. Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices about conservation areas in both villages are comparable between positive and negative.
