Abstract

Safety school zone is government program that used to protect pedestarian especially student at schools on highways with heavy traffic volumes. The purpose of holding this program is to protect road users to be more careful in drive using a times based speed system. Data colletion carried out by reviewing directly, data consist of daily traffic, instantaneous speed, delivered and pedestarian behavior and parents perceptions of traffic safety. Research results obtained from the amont of daily traffic on D.I Panjaitan street for one week was 719,28, junior high school / hour. Speed average in Panjaitan street which is located in front of elementary school 231 Palembang and Setia Darma vocational school for six days are (-0,386 . -0,810 . -0,286. -0,203 . -0,424 . -0,232) which are categorized as unsaved because (Zhit < Ztabel) Zhit value is 1,645. Service level of D.I Panjaitan Street is precisely in front of elementary school 231 Palembang and Setia Darma vocanational school is B category with road capacity of 3041,52 and comparative value (V/C) is 0,236.
