Abstract

Irwanda, Dio. 2025 An Analysis Character Personalities Plot and Setting in Mufasa the Lion King Movie. Thesis, English Education Study Program, Sarjana Degree (S1), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. Advisor (1) Dr. Kurnia Saputri, S.Pd., M.Pd., And (2) Masagus Sulaiman, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: analysis, character personalities, plot, setting The objective this of research was to find out the Character personalities plot and setting in Mufasa the lion king movie directed by Barry Jenkins in this study, the researcher used qualitative research. In collecting the data, the researcher used documentation technique in term of observation (watching). The researcher used two kinds of data sources. Primary data and secondary data. For primary data, the researcher used the script of the movie, Mufasa the lion king directed by Barry Jenkins, and for secondary data, the researcher used some articles and books to support this research. To analyze the data the researcher used of intrinsic analysis in line with character personalities, plot and setting. The result of study should that they are seven characters. Four round characters like Mufasa, taka, sarabi and rafiqi. The researcher also found out two flat and one dynamic character such as Timon, pumba and kiros. The researcher also found out the plot of Mufasa, the lion king movie directed by Barry Jenkins. In this context, the plot started by introduction that the story was flashback narrative structure told by rafiqi. and then continued to rising action where Mufasa and taka face a great challenge that test their brotherly bond. and then climax where the peak confrontation between Mufasa, taka and primary threat and then falling action where the aftermath of the climax Taka exiles himself or is banished. and than the last one was resolution where the past Mufasa and Sarabi become king and queen. Finally the researcher also find setting of Mufasa the lion king movie directed by berry Jenkins in this context the researcher found out three kind of setting the first one was setting of place that refers to the pride land the second one setting of time with create two time line the past Mufasa story and the present after the lion king to simba pride and then third one is social setting where the monarchy and hierarchy of the animal kingdom in the pride land.
