Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of factors causing energy loss in the clean water distribution pipeline network system at PDAM Tirta Betuah Air Kumbang Branch. Energy loss in clean water distribution systems can be caused by various factors such as friction within pipes, pipe bends, changes in pipe cross-sections, and elevation differences. These problems result in decreased efficiency of water distribution to customers; therefore, an analysis is necessary to determine the magnitude and main causes of energy loss within the system. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, utilizing primary data obtained from field surveys and secondary data from PDAM documents. The analysis process involved calculating flow discharge and flow velocity, followed by determining energy losses due to friction, pipe bends, pipe contractions, and elevation differences using hydraulic equations. The data were then processed to identify energy losses in each pipe segment and analyzed to determine critical points within the distribution network. The results show that the greatest energy loss occurs in the pipe segment from A1 to B, with a value of 1,74892365 meters and a flow velocity of 0,5592 m/s. Meanwhile, the smallest energy loss is found in the pipe segment from N to P, amounting to 0,01023093 meters with a flow velocity of 0,0879 m/s. To minimize energy loss, it is recommended to use pipes with low friction coefficients, reduce the number of sharp bends, and improve the design of the distribution network. These measures are expected to enhance the efficiency of the distribution system and improve PDAM’s service quality to the community.
