Abstract
This research is driven by the effort to utilize industrial and agricultural waste as eco-friendly alternative materials in concrete or mortar production. The main focus of this study is to analyze the effect of substituting sugarcane bagasse ash for fly ash in the production of geopolymer mortar. The primary problem investigated is how this substitution affects the specific gravity and compressive strength of the resulting geopolymer mortar. The research method used is an experimental laboratory method. Testing was conducted on various substitutions of sugarcane bagasse ash at mortar ages of 0%, 5%,10%,15% dan 20%, and 14, 21, and 28 days. The parameters measured include the specific gravity and compressive strength of the geopolymer mortar to determine the optimum content of sugarcane bagasse ash. The test results indicate that the substitution of sugarcane bagasse ash has a significant impact on the mortar characteristics. The highest specific gravity was obtained in the MG-5% variation at 28 days, with a value of 2247.0 kg/m³. Similarly, the optimum compressive strength was found in the MG-5% composition, which produced a strength of 41.62 MPa at 28 days. These results indicate that the use of sugarcane bagasse ash at a certain level can enhance the mechanical performance of fly ash-based geopolymer mortar.
