Abstract
This research focuses on simulating the design of a single-phase inverter using MATLAB Simulink to evaluate the performance of power conversion from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). The inverter model is built with a full-bridge topology employing four IGBT switches that are driven by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). signals. An LC filter is incorporated to shape the output waveform to closely resemble a sinusoidal form. The simulation is conducted with a 168 Volt DC source and a 100 Watt resistive lamp load. The simulation results indicate that the inverter successfully produces an RMS output voltage of 215.5 V with a power conversion efficiency of 52.6%. However, the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) reaches 1252.40%, indicating a significant presence of harmonic content. A power factor (cos φ) of 1 confirms the purely resistive nature of the load with no reactive power component. This research provides a solid foundation for future inverter development with improved efficiency and power quality through optimized PWM techniques and filter design.
