Abstract

ABSTRACT LAW ENFORCEMENT OF CRIMINAL ACTS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN SERVICE UNIT (PPA UNIT) LAHAT RESORT POLICE (POLRES) By: Aldhila Selfiana Crimes of violence against women and children are violations of human rights that must be eliminated from the life of Indonesian society. Creating a safe environment for women and children is our duty together with all elements of society and government. The government and the community need to pay attention to measures to prevent and handle cases of violence seriously. Women and children are part of human life who have the same rights and dignity as men and adults. Women and children need to be protected, because of their vulnerable position to acts of violence. The research problem of this thesis is how the law enforcement of criminal acts of violence against women and children in the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA Unit) of the Lahat Resort Police (Polres) and what factors cause violence against women and children from a criminological point of view. This research is classified as empirical juridical research supported by library data and legislation. The nature of this research is descriptive analytical. The results of the research found answers, that criminal policy (law enforcement) in preventing and overcoming criminal acts of violence against women and children in the PPA Unit of Lahat Police is carried out as according to the Indonesian criminal justice system by using two approaches, namely through penal means with repressive actions and non-penal means in the form of preventive actions by applying restorative justice (RJ) and diversion approaches. The factors that cause violent crimes against women and children in the criminological view include poverty factors (economic factors), educational factors, physiological and psychological factors, biological factors, socio-cultural factors, and weak law enforcement and the level of public legal awareness.
