Abstract

The thesis entitled "The Role of Islamic Boarding School Leaders in Improving the Quality of Education in Islamic Boarding Schools (Case Study at Assalam Islamic Boarding School Sungai Lilin Muba)", is based on the fact and phenomenon that Kiyai has an important role in the development of Islamic boarding schools. Role is a dynamic aspect of position (status). The role of the kiyai is interpreted as the role held by the kiyai over his Islamic boarding school. Apart from being the owner, the kiyai is also a leader and determinant in the Islamic boarding school. There are several requirements that make a kiyai have influence. Then with his influence and power, the kiyai can determine every step and policy, especially in improving the quality of education.
