Abstract
Rainfed rice fields are rice fields whose irrigation system relies heavily on rainfall. This type of rice field only produces during the rainy season. During the rainy season, water supply for agricultural land is not a problem due to the high rainfall intensity. However, during the dry season, water requirements for crops become complex due to decreasing water supplies. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the available rainfall is sufficient to meet the water needs of rainfed rice fields and to optimize the water needs of rainfed rice fields in Muara Lematang Village, Sungai Rotan District, Muara Enim Regency. The results of this study indicate that rainfed rice fields in Muara Lematang Village, covering an area of 257 hectares, provide 0.498 m3/s of water for rice plants, while rice crop water requirements are 1.934 m3/s. This can be seen from the balance between water availability and rice crop water requirements. The first planting season (rice) is conducted from April to August, and the second planting season (secondary crops) is conducted from August to November.
