Abstract

This research is a study of water-reduced concrete and the use of additives in concrete mixtures. The purpose of this research is to obtain information on how these additives can affect the characteristics of concrete, especially on the compressive strength of concrete. And to get the most optimal composition of water reduction and the use of additives in concrete. This research uses an experimental method, this research uses concrete with a concrete quality of f'c 30 Mpa as well as 5% and 10% water reduction with a percentage of additives 0.3%, 0.4% and 0.5%. The test specimens used were cylinders measuring 15 cm x 30 cm as many as 63 samples and tested for compressive strength at the age of 3, 7, and 28 days. The results of this study show that 10% water reduction and the use of 0.4% additive can produce the best concrete compressive strength. Water reduction of 10% with the use of 0.5% additive decreased the compressive strength of concrete significantly. This study concludes that water reduction and the use of additives have an effect on improving the quality of concrete if used in the right proportions.
