Abstract

Fair and effective law enforcement is one of the main focuses in the criminal justice system in Indonesia. Restorative justice (RJ) or restorative justice is an approach that places greater emphasis on restoring relationships between the perpetrator, victim and society rather than simply providing punishment. This thesis aims to analyze the application of restorative justice in handling general criminal cases at the Ogan Ilir District Prosecutor's Office. This research uses an empirical juridical method, which examines how the principles of restorative justice are applied in the process of resolving criminal cases at the Prosecutor's Office, as well as the obstacles faced by Public Prosecutors in implementing this approach. The research results show that the implementation of restorative justice at the Ogan Ilir District Prosecutor's Office has been carried out in several specific cases involving various parties, such as victims, perpetrators and the community, in the case resolution process. However, there are various challenges that need to be overcome, such as a lack of understanding of the concept of restorative justice among law enforcement officers and limited supporting facilities in the mediation process. Overall, the implementation of restorative justice at the Ogan Ilir District Prosecutor's Office has great potential in creating justice that is more humane and recovery-oriented, but requires increased understanding and support from various related parties to be more effective in its implementation.
