Abstract
Irrigation for rice plants functions as a provision of sufficient and stable water to ensure rice production. The area of land or rice fields in the irrigation area is divided in such a way as to facilitate the distribution of water. The method of distribution depends on the purpose of the irrigation and the water needs for agriculture. Water is distributed to the rice fields through a network system consisting of water channels with control buildings. Irrigation capacity in relation to the availability of water for rice plants can be studied through irrigation problems and factors that influence irrigation water management. The capacity of irrigation water channels for lowland rice plants is greatly influenced by several factors, namely soil conditions, plant types, climate, topography, social, economic and cultural factors. The objectives to be achieved in this study are to determine the need for irrigation water in Sri Mulyo Village, Madang Suku II District, East OKU Regency and to determine the availability of water for rice fields in Sri Mulyo Village, Madang Suku II District, East OKU Regency. Based on the results of the study, the following conclusions can be drawn: The need for water for irrigation in Sri Mulyo Village with an area of 543 Ha. In the first planting season (March - July) the average is 0.31 m3/sec, the availability of water for irrigation in Sri Mulyo Village is still quite sufficient. This can be seen from the average availability, in the second planting season (March - July) the average is 0.92 m3/sec, and the amount of water needs decreased during the rice growing season, namely in April period II to July period I by 0.4 m³/sec. While the availability of water increased in April period II to July period I by 0.53 m³/sec
