Abstract

Irrigation is an effort to provide, regulate, and dispose of irrigation water to support agriculture. Irrigation is intended to help the productivity of farming to increase agricultural production. Jati Mulyo sub-secondary irrigation channel is currently not maximized in meeting the water needs of the rice fields under review because there is a loss of discharge at each gate which results in reduced water discharge in the next sub-secondary channel. This loss of water discharge will affect the water needs of rice fields downstream of the channel. The purpose of this study is to determine the causes and how much water loss occurs in Jati Mulyo sub-secondary irrigation canals BJM 1 - BJM 3 and tertiary that lead to the rice fields studied. This study was conducted by analyzing the water needs of paddy fields, the availability of actual water discharge in the channel, water loss in the channel, and water availability. The data used are channel dimension data, and climatological data (rainfall, air humidity, air temperture, solar irradiation and wind speed). The results showed that the amount of water loss due to evaporation and seepage respectively was for BJM. 1 is 0.00019782 m3/sec and 0.005160 m3/sec, BJM 2 is 0.0000981 m3/det and 0.002489 m3/det, BJM 3 is 0.0002826 m3/det and 0.006843 m3/sec, tertiary is 0.0000078 m3/sec and 0.000328 m3/sec. The amount of lost discharge per-segment starts from the door for BJM 1 of 0.0854 m3/sec, BJM 2 of 0.0657 m3/sec, and BJM 3 of 0.2121 m3/sec. The cause of the loss of water discharge is also due to the damming of the dividing gate by the community and garbage in the channel that impedes the flow of water. The period with the highest shortage occurred in October I land cultivation with Q less than 0.0519 m3/sec.
