Abstract

Clay soil is a type of soil that has low bearing capacity. The function of soil as a building foundation requires stable soil conditions. Therefore, the soil needs to be treated specially to improve the poor properties of the soil by means of stabilization. The purpose of soil stabilization is to increase the bearing capacity of the soil. One alternative for clay soil stability is to add bamboo leaf ash to the soil. This Bamboo Leaf Ash has a content that can make the stability value of the soil high where when mixed with bamboo leaf ash it will strengthen the bearing capacity value of the soil. The variations of the bamboo leaf ash mixture used are 0%, 8%, 10%, and 15%, of the dry soil weight with a curing time of 0, 6, and 18 days. The study showed that the compressive strength value increased to the highest limit in the 10% mixture and decreased in the 15% mixture. This study concludes that the use of bamboo leaf ash as an additional material is effective up to the optimal limit of 10%.
