Abstract

The increasing amount of agricultural waste, particularly rice husk ash, has become a major concern for environmental sustainability. Rice husk ash, rich in silica (87–97%), holds potential as a supplementary material in the production of cementless polymer concrete. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding rice husk ash on the density and compressive strength of polymer concrete. The method employed involved partial substitution of fine aggregate with rice husk ash in proportions of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Specimens were prepared using epoxy resin, hardener, and fine aggregate sourced from Tanjung Raja, and tested after 28 days of curing. The results indicated that increasing the rice husk ash content decreased both the density and compressive strength of the concrete. However, at certain proportions, the mechanical properties remained within acceptable limits. This finding emphasizes the importance of optimizing mix design to produce environmentally friendly concrete with satisfactory performance.
