Abstract
Clay soil is a type of soil that has a low carrying capacity. The function of the soil as a building foundation requires stable soil conditions. Therefore, the soil needs to be done a special treatment to improve the properties that are not good in the soil . The purpose of cement slag is to increase the carrying capacity of the soil, One other alternative for clay soil stability is to add cement slag to the soil. Cement slag has a content that can make the stability value of the soil high where when mixed with cement slag will strengthen the carrying capacity value of the soil. The variations of the cement slag mixture used are 0%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% of dry soil weight with a ripening time of 0, 7, and 14 days. This study, it shows that the value of free compressive strength continues to increase until the highest limit occurs in the 25% cement slag mixture, which is 0,83143 kg/cm2, with an increase percentage of 17.04%, so the value of free compressive strength is influenced by the addition of mixture variations where the largest free compressive strength value occurs in 25% mixture variations with a curing time of 14 days.
