Abstract
A retaining wall is an engineering structure made to withstand soil pressure and prevent landslides or erosion. Retaining walls are usually constructed on slopes or places where there are elevation differences in the soil which can cause ground movement. These structures can be made of various materials such as concrete, brick, wood, or gabions (baskets filled with stones). Retaining walls can also take various forms such as vertical, terrace or perimeter walls. In addition, retaining walls are usually equipped with a drainage system to prevent water from being trapped behind the wall and causing excess moisture to the surrounding soil. Retaining walls are used in a variety of applications, including the construction of highways, buildings and other infrastructure. The stability of a building construction is the most important thing in its planning. As is the case with the construction of a retaining wall in the area of Jalan Garuda Baturaja. This research was conducted to determine the value of the safety factor of the retaining wall, with research on analysis of the stability of the retaining wall, which will be analyzed manually and with the Excel 2013 program as a comparison. From the analysis of the stability of the retaining wall the safety factor for shearing is 2.69 and overturning safety factor is 4.13 and the soil bearing capacity safety factor is 3,00. Key words :Stability of retaining walls,Safety Factor.
