Abstract
Geographically, Palembang is located at 2°59′27.99″LS 104°45′24.24″BT. The area of Palembang City is 400.61 km², with an average altitude of 8 metersabove sea level. Palembang's climate is a tropical climate with relative humidwinds, wind speed ranges from 2.3 km/hour - 4.5 km/hour. Rainfall per yearranges from 2,000 mm - 3,000 mm. This research was conducted in Palembang City. The purpose of thisresearch is to analyze the characteristics of rainfall in accordance with rainfall data in Palembang City. The purpose of this research is to find out the analysis of rainfall intensity by using the Mononobe Method to get theIntensity-Duration-Frequency (IDF) value. Based on the calculation of rainfall intensity using the Mononobe method, avalue of 38.60465 mm/hour with a duration of 60 minutes in a 10-year returnperiod can be categorized as very heavy rain. From the IDF curve, the characterof the rain shows that the high rain intensity only lasts for a short duration, it shows that heavy rain lasts for a short time and vice versa, not heavy rain canlast for a long time.
