Abstract
ABSTRACT The Marshall test aims to measure the stability of the aggregate and asphalt mixture against plastic melting (flow) of the asphalt and aggregate mixture. Plastic fatigue is a state of change in the shape of the mixture that occurs due to a load up to the breaking limit expressed in mm or 0.01. From the preparation of the test object to the inspection with the Marshall tool, the following data were obtained: stability value, unit weight, asphalt content, plastic fatigue (flow), VIM, VMA, absorption of asphalt, thickness of the asphalt film (asphalt film), effective asphalt content, marshall's quotient (marshal's coefficient). Rubber waste material which is increasing and difficult to decompose needs to be handled properly. Utilization of rubber waste is often used for various kinds, such as crafts, bag filling, sand for futsal fields. In this study, researchers will use rubber waste as a mixture addition to each asphalt mixture as asphalt modification. With the addition of rubber waste, can it increase the ability of the pavement layer to accept vehicle traffic loads. Based on the results and discussion of adding rubber waste to stability and melting that has been carried out, it shows a decrease in value compared to test objects without using added rubber waste, where the marshall characteristic values VIM, VMA, Stability, Flow are in accordance with the General Specifications of Highways Revision III of 2010, and the addition of tire rubber waste 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5%, and 7% in the VIM marshall test does not meet the requirements because the VIM value is above 5%. While the penetration value of asphalt in mixed materials has decreased, namely for 5% content the penetration value is 62.2, for 5.5% content the penetration value is 61.7, for 6% content the penetration value is 59.8, for 6.5% content the penetration value 58.3 and, for the 7% content, the penetration value is 57.5, while the penetration value for asphalt without mixed ingredients with levels of 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5% and 7% is 67.8. Keyword: Marshall Test, Rubber Waste, and analysis.
