Abstract
Clay soil is a type of soil that has a low carrying capacity. The function of soil as a building foundation requires stable soil conditions. Therefore, the soil needs to be treated with special treatment to improve the unfavorable properties of the soil by means of stabilization. The purpose of soil stabilization is to increase the carrying capacity of the soil. One other alternative for clay soil stability is to add coconut shell charcoal ash (AATK) to the soil. Coconut shell charcoal ash (AATK) has a high silica content and functions as a support for the pozzolanie reaction with clay soil and contains quite a lot of calcium ash (AATK), which is ash produced from burning coconut shells, is then filtered until it passes filter No. 200. The variations of the coconut shell charcoal ash mixture (AATK) used were 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9% by weight of dry soil with a curing time of 5 days. From this study it was shown that the value of the free compressive strength continued to increase until the highest limit occurred in a mixture of 6% Coconut Shell Ash Charcoal (AATK) which was 1.16679 kg/m2, with an increase percentage of 21.01%, then the free compressive strength value experienced decrease in the addition of 9% variation, so the value of the free compressive strength is affected by the addition of mixed variations where the largest free compressive strength value occurs in the 6% mixed variation with 5 days curing time.
