Abstract

Abstract Name : S Zulfa Febrianti Advisors : I. Kurnia Saputri,M.Pd. II. Masagus Sulaiman,M.Pd. S Zulfa Febrianti.2023.”using instagram to improve the tenth grade students’ descriptive writing skills” A thesis of English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang.Advisor (1) Kurnia Saputri,M.Pd., (2) Masagus Sulaiman.,M.Pd. The objective of this research was to find out the use of instagram can improve students‟ writing skills in descriptive text.. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of Islamic Senior High School 1 PALEMBANG in the academic year of 2022/2023 . The sample consisted 25 students participants. The instrument, used in this research was with test. Which was distributed in pretest and posttest sessions. The result of the data indicated that, the students‟ mean score of post-test was (79.36), was greater than the mean score of pretest (66.84) . Based on the data analysis, t-test was value higher than the t-test table value (11.050>1.711) at the level of significance 0.02 with degree of freedom (df) = 24. It means that there was a significant difference. Therefore H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, it can be concluded that the use of instagram in process learning teaching can improve writing skills students‟ in descriptive text.
