Abstract

Abstract Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) on Jalan Jendral Sudirman, especially located in the area of the largest shopping center in the city of Palembang. It is one of the pedestrian bridges located on Jalan Jendral Sudirman. Many pedestrian crossings do not use pedestrian bridges (JPO) and prefer to cross to the road on Jendral Sudirman Street. The area has a pedestrian bridge (PO) facility, but the reality on the ground is that the bridge is not used optimally; meaning that it is still available. Pedestrians, especially pedestrians who cross directly to the tapa road area through the pedestrian bridge, the reluctance of pedestrians to pass through the pedestrian bridge (JPO) of course. this condition is interesting to study that the behavior of pedestrians has an influence on traffic performance or not and how big the influence is . Initial survey by calculating daily traffic flow for 24 hours using manual counting methods, as well as visual methods with video cameras. In daily traffic surveys, it is known that peak times are morning peaks (08.15 - 08.30), afternoon peaks (12.00 - 12.15) and afternoon peaks (15.45-16.00). At each peak time, a comparison of the behavior of pedestrians through the bridge and through the road is studied. Specifically for the behavior of pedestrians through the road, the effect will be investigated on the number of times the whicle is held up and the speed of passenger cars when crossing activities occur. The results of this study indicate that in the morning the behavior of pedestrians through the bridge is more than through the area of the road. This shows that in the morning the pedestrian bridge facility is quite effective. In the afternoon the behavior of pedestrians through the bridge is less than through the road. This shows that in the afternoon the pedestrian bridge facility is not effective. At the peak of the morning. the average pedestrian is able to hold I vehicle for 0.80 seconds, At the peak of the afternoon able to withstand I wehicle dive 0.86 seconds. The effect on the speed of passenger cars during the 3 hours of peak morning resulted in a speed before the incident of 24.48 km/hour, while the incident was 19.11 km/hour, affer the incident 26.35 km/hour. At 3 hours during the peak afternoon the speed before the incident was 20.30 km/hour, while the incident was 14.79 km/hour, after the incident 17.78 km/hour. At 3 hours during the afternoon peak, the speed before the incident was 24.48 kn/hour, while the incident was 19.54 km/hour, after the incident 29.02 km/hour. This shows that pedestrians through the road can affect the smoothness of traffic on Jalan Jendral Sudirman KM. 3.5. Keywords: Crossers, Pedestrians, Behavior, Traffic flow.
