Abstract

ABSTRAK Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) on JI R. Sukamto, especially located in the area of the biggest shopping center in the city of Palembang. It is one of the pedestrian bridges on J R. Sukamto. Many pedestrian crossings do not. use pedestrian bridges (JPO) and prefer to cross to the road section on J R. Sukamto. The area has a pedestrian bridge (JPO) facility, but the reality on the ground is that the bridge is not used optimally, meaning that it is still there are pedestrians, especially pedestrians who cross directly to the tapa road area through the pedestrian bridge, the reluctance of pedestrians to pass through the pedestrian bridge (JPO) of course this condition is interesting to study that pedestrian behavior has an influence on traffic performance or not and how much influence the. Initial survey by calculating daily traffic flow for 24 hours using the manual enumeration method, as well as the visual method with a video camera. The daily traffic survey found that the peak times are in the morning (11.45 - 12.00) and the afternoon peak (13.30 - 13.45). At each peak time, a comparison of the behavior of pedestrians through the bridge and through the road is studied. In particular, the behavior of pedestrians through the road will be investigated for its effect on the number of times the vehicle is stuck and the speed of passenger cars when crossing activities occur. The results of this study indicate that in the morning the behavior of pedestrians through the bridge is more than through the area of the road. This shows that in the morning the pedestrian bridge facility is quite effective. In the afternoon the behavior of pedestrians through the bridge is less than through the road. This shows that in the afternoon the pedestrian bridge facility is not effective. At the peak of the morning. the average pedestrian is able to hold I vehicle for 0.80 seconds. At the peak of the afternoon able to withstand I vehicle for 0.86 seconds. The effect on the speed of passenger cars during the 3 hours of peak morning results in a speed of 21.20 km/hour before the incident, 17.06 km/hour for the incident, and 21.63 km/hour after the incident. At 3 hours during the afternoon peak the speed before the incident was 17.64 km/hour, while the incident was 13.46 km/hour, after the incident 15.91 km/hour. This shows that pedestrians through the road are able to affect the smoothness of traffic on R. Sukamto road.
