Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of farmer groups in the provision of agricultural machinery in rice farming, an inhibiting factor for farmer groups in obtaining agricultural machinery. This research was carried out in Balui Water Village, Sanga District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, in June-August 2022. The research method used is a survey method for sampling using Purposive Sampling. The data collection method used is observation In-depth interviews and documentation is carried out directly to predetermined sources. The data processing methods used (editing) data editing, (coding) coding, and (tabulating) place words in the form of tables. And the data analysis used descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the role of farmer groups in providing agricultural machinery in the rice farming business of farmer groups as a source of information for farmers in the group to mediator planning to provide machine assistance to the agricultural office. The head of the farmer group coordinates responsible for planning to apply for assistance by holding meetings, making proposals, representing the group in a meeting with the parties concerned in submitting a proposal requesting assistance for agricultural machinery needed by the farmer group. Meanwhile, the factors inhibiting farmer groups from obtaining agricultural machinery, one of which is the lack of certainty and activeness of farmers in the farmer group itself in planning requests for agricultural machinery assistance, and the agricultural department before distributing the machine aid conducted a pre-survey of the farmer group concerned.
