Abstract

This study investigated the correlation between reading interest and English achievements of the eleventh grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Palembang. The sample of these 47 students taken by taking random sampling. The data were collected through method of the research. The first one was through a ready-made questionnaire. The second was analyzed by Pearson product moment correlation. Based on the data analysis, the value of correlation between reading interest and English achievement (r-obtained) was 0,523 in two tailed testing at 0,05 of significant of significant level of 47 samples (r-table) =0,240. It means there was a significant correlation between reading interest and English achievement. Since the value of r obtained was higher than r-table, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It can be conclude that there was significant correlation between Reading Interest and English Achievement of the Eleventh Grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Palembang.
