Abstract

Shear wall is a structure in the form of a vertical wall that can withstand the effects of lateral forces, gravity, and provides lateral stability to the building. Wall has a very large stiffness in its plane and in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the wall, because the shear wall stiffness is greater than other structural elements, then the lateral loads and gravity that occur will be absorbed more by the shear wall so that dimensions of the elements other structures can be minimized. Analysis and modeling of stiffening structures such as shear walls in 8-storey buildings with the student version of SAP 2000 program to determine the effect of comparisons between 8-storey buildings using shear walls and without using shear walls. The stages in the analysis and modeling include literature study, data collection in the form of primary data including building configuration, structural elements, structural specifications, materials and secondary data including self-weight, dead load, additional dead load, live load, wind load then modeling is carried out. Structures without shear walls and with shear walls then analyze using the student version of SAP 2000, identify materials, identify superstructures, identify building models, identify earthquake loads, namely Palembang city wind loads with reference to SNI 1726: 2019 on floor plates, beams, shear walls, then an analysis of the results was carried out which finally reached a conclusion. The results of the analysis of walls without a shear wall, the value of the deviation between floors in the X direction is 38.458% and the Y direction is 44,779% then using a shear wall the value of the deviation between floors in the X direction is 49.458% in the Y direction is 55,779% which has met the requirements to SNI 1726 : 2019. Keywords: Shear wall, deflection, P delta, earthquake, 8-storey building, South Sumatra Regional Police building.
