Abstract

Abstract Traditional market is a trading sector that has its own characteristics, namely the existence of a pattern of interaction between sellers and buyers when bargaining for merchandise. However, the problems that arise with the presence of modern markets make traditional markets increasingly marginalized, the environmental conditions of traditional markets are the main problem which is considered not able to provide a sense of comfort and safety when doing activities. Due to this, many traditional markets have become places for shopping that are not clean and hygienic, and infrastructure is inadequate. Therefore, it is necessary to plan the procurement of a clean and comfortable market or kiosk stall. Basically the building is a unique thing where we are free to plan according to our wishes, needs, and availability and the design of the building we want. Beams and columns are very important structural components in a building construction, therefore the two structural components must be analyzed and taken into account. A building structure must be able to withstand the load that occurs, therefore it is necessary a precise and thorough structural planning in order to fulfill criteria for structural loading due to dead load, live load and wind load. The results of planning a two-story market building from several planned variations obtained a total net concrete area, namely variation 1 failed, variation 2 was 2850.94 cm2, variation 3 was 2268.98 cm2, variation 4 was 2043.98 cm2 and variation 5 was 1839, 68. From these results it can be concluded that the safe and efficient variation of beams and columns is variation 5 where the dimensions of the beam are 35 x 35cm and the column is 20 x 30 cm.
