Abstract
ABSTRACT In rice fields, irrigation systems and drainage systems are needed, because they will greatly affect the production of food crops. Irrigation system is an important component for agricultural activities in Indonesia, most of which are located in rural areas. And drainage is one of the technical efforts by making water channels or drainage lines to reduce excess water from rainwater, seepage, and excess irrigation water from an area or rice field in Karang Makmur Village. From the results of the measurement of the cross-sectional area and flow velocity, the length of the channel when the water level rises (tide) is 540 m or 0.54 Km. And the water discharge in this secondary (collector) channel reaches a minimum value at low tide of 234.948 m3/s, the maximum discharge at high tide is 978.785 m3/s, while the average capacity that can be accommodated by the channel is only 528.96 m3/sec. That is, from the calculation results, the water discharge entering the channel is greater than the water discharge from the drainage, so that the channel in this rice field area overflows and cannot accommodate water at high tide.
