Abstract

Elsy Novela Triana. 2021. The Correlation Between Parents Support and Students English Achievement of Eleventh Grade Student of UPT SMA Negeri 2 Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir. Thesis, English Education Study Program, Sarjana Degree (S1), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. Advisors (I) Dr. Tri Rositasari, M.Pd., and (II) Dwi Rara Saraswaty, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keyword: correlation, parents’ support and students’ English achievement. This title of thesis was “The Correlation Between Parents’ Support and Student English Achievement of Eleventh Grade Student of UPT SMA Negeri 2 Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir”. The limitation of the problem limited on “The Correlation Between Parents’ Support and Students’ English Achievement of Eleventh Grade Student of UPT SMA Negeri 2 Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir”. The formulation of the problem “there is any significant correlation between parents’ support and students’ English achievement of eleventh grade student of UPT SMA Negeri 2 Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir?”. The objective of this study was”:to find out whether or not there is significant correlation between parents’ support on the students’ English achievement of eleventh grade student of UPT SMA Negeri 2 Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir”. In doing this study, quantitative method and correlation design used by researcher. The sample of this study were 70 students of eleventh grade student of UPT SMA Negeri 2 Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir. For collected the data, it was collected through two instruments. The first one was through a ready-made. The second was analyzed by pearson product moment coefficient. Based on the data analysis, the value of correlation between parents’ support and students English achievement (r-obtained) was 0.653 in the level significant 5% of significant level 70 samples (r-table)) = 0.235. It means that there was a significant correlation between parents support and students English achievement. Since the value of r-obtained was higher than r-table, the alternative hypothesis (HO) was rejected and (H1) was accepted. It can be concluded that there was significant correlation between parents support and students English achievement.
