Biodiversity is the diversity of living things which shows the overall variation of genes, species and ecosystems in an area. In the red chili (Capsicum annum L.) plantation in Suka Menang Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency, there are various types of insect diversity such as grasshoppers, ants, and centipedes. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of insects (Insecta) in red chili (Capsicum annum L.) plants in Suka Menang Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency and to determine the feasibility of developing teaching materials in the form of handouts for class X SMA Negeri 9 Palembang on the material. principal of biodiversity. This research method used is the method of survey, observation, descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Based on the results of the diversity study, the value of H1 (diversity index) was 1 <1.84 <3, which indicates a moderate level of insect species diversity. Based on the results of the validation of the feasibility test from the handouts made from media experts, the value of X = 30 means that the handout is very feasible and from the media expert, the value of X = 34 means very feasible and from the biology teacher it is obtained that the value of X = 75 means very feasible.
