Abstract

ABSTRACT Yanti, Irma.2020. Teaching reading analytical exposition text by using multipass strategy to the eleventg grade students of SMA Sanudin Pangkalan Balai. Thesis, English education study program, Sarjana Degreee (S1), faculty of teacher training and Education Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. Advisor (1): Kurnia Saputri, S.Pd.,M.Pd. (II) Finza Larasati, S.Pd.,M.Pd. Keyword: Teaching, Reading, Analytical Exposition Text, Multipass Strategy. This thesis is entitled “Teaching Reading Analytical Exposition Text by Using Multipass Strategy to the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Sanudin Pangkalan Balai. The problem of this study was “is it effective to teach reading analytical exposition text by using multipass strategy to the eleventh grade students at SMA Sanudin Pangkalan Balai?”. The objective of this study was to find out whether or not it is effective to teach reading analytical exposition by using multipass strategy to the eleventh grade students of SMA Sanudin Pangkalan Balai. This study, used pre- experimental design. The population of this study was all eleventh grade students SMA Sanudin Pangkalan Balai, with the total number 84 students. The sample of this study was 24 that students were taken selected through convenience sampling. The data obtained were analyzed by using paired sample t-test in SPSS ( Statistical Package for the Social Science) 22.0. The result of t- test obtained was 6.106 and it was higher than the critical value of t-table was 1.713, with (df) n = 23 at the level of significance 0.05 (5%) for two- tailed test. It be concuded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was aaccepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, because t – obtained was higher than the value of t-table. It means that “it is effective to teach reading analytical exposition text by using multipass strategy to the eleventh grade students at SMA Sanudin Pangkalan Balai.
