Abstract

The water loss that occurred in Sitiharjo Village, Tugumulyo Sub-district, Musi Rawas District was caused by the conflict between the flood gates conducted by the farmers so that water could enter the rice field plots and the people who had used the water that also existed for the swift flow fish ponds, that is the way to pool by tapping or blocking water from irrigation channels by illegal means. There are also many fast flow fishponds that are not in accordance with the technical rules so that the water that is taken for the fishponds can no longer be returned in the original channel but thrown to another place. The results of the analysis using manual tools such as floating balls, meter roll, cameras, and stopwatches. It can be found that the average water loss in 7 days in BK.7 Primary channel is 24.45 m3/second, BK.8 Primary channel is 8.33 m3/second, BM.0 Secondary channel is 2.39 m3/second , Secondary channel BM.2 is 0.62 m3/second. For further researchers, it is better to use a flow meter to find out the basic flowrate. The government is seen as needing to take decisive action by giving sanctions to owners of swift currents who do not return water to the irrigation canals and the people who tap or block water from the irrigation channels by illegal means.
