Abstract

Safety school zone is a control of the speed of traffic, especially at schools on highways with a high volume of traffic speed, the purpose of which the school's safe zone is held to protect children and road users from being more careful to prevent traffic accidents. The data collection is done by direct survey in the field, while the data taken is daily traffic, instantaneous speed, delivery behavior and crossing the road. The results of the study showed that the total traffic volume on the hamlet I lumpatan I highway especially in front of the SMP N 4 Sekayu school for one week, in the morning hours was 561.5 pcu / hour while in the afternoon hours was 358.65 pcu / hour. The average speed data on highway I hamlet I in front of SMP N 4 Sekayu for six days in the morning hours is (2,677, 3,302, 4,294, 5,026, 4,020, 4,294) while at noon is (3,575, 3,300, 3.481, 3.799, 4.895, 3,501) which is categorized as unsaved because (zhit > ztabel) because ztable = 1,645, while the level of service on the hamlet I lumpatan I highway especially in front of the Sekayu Middle School 4 has a service level with road capacity 3059 , 7 with a comparison value (V/C) of 0.183 in the morning hours and 0.117 in the afternoon hours, so that the information is current, low volume and high speed, the driver can choose the desired speed.
