Abstract

This research and module development aims to (1). Produce practical problem-based module development products in Food Digestive System material, (2). Know the validity of problem-based modules in the Food Digestive System material, (3). Know the potential effects of problem-based modules on the Food Digestive System material on students' critical thinking abilities. The research used the Borg & Gall research and development (R&D) model. Subjects used included: field trial subjects limited to 15 students, 36 students from SMA 1 Sirah Pulau Padang as field test subjects . The instruments used included questionnaires, observations, interviews, and tests. The results of this study are (1) Practical problem-based student module products in the Food Digestive System material were developed based on PBL syntax and Facione's critical thinking indicators which were visualized on purpose, material, activities, and evaluation questions; (2) The validity of student modules based on problems in the Food Digestive System based on the results of highly qualified material validation with a value of 82.08%, the results of validating the development of design are very well qualified with a value of 82.34%, the results of the validation of highly qualified learning devices with values 89.04%, the results of language validation / legibility are very good with a value of 87.5%, the results of validation of education practitioners are very well qualified with a value of 82.91% and 82.49%, as well as limited field testing of highly qualified students with grades 88.74%; (3) Problem-based modules in the Food Digestive System material effectively improve the ability to think critically in the Food Digestive System material, based on the results of the N-Gain test showing differences as well as an increase in learning outcomes in students.
