Abstract

ABSTRACT Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) is a concrete mixture that has characteristics that can compact themselves without using a compactor (vibrator). Red brick is a common material that is widely used as building material in Indonesia, this material is hygroscopic (absorbs water). The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of red brick powder and superplasticizer used in concrete to achieve optimum SCC concrete compressive strength. The research sample was a specimen in the form of a cube with a size of 15x15x15 cm, variations in the sample amounted to 7 variations namely Normal Concrete, 1% SP SCC, 1.5% SP SCC, 2% SP SCC, 1% SP SCC + 10% SBM, SCC SP 1.5% + SBM 10% and SP SCC 2% + SBM 10%, each variation consisted of 9 samples. After concrete compressive strenght test, the results of the characteristic compressive strength test were: Normal Concrete (401.59 Kg/Cm2 ), SCC SP 1% (451.25 Kg/Cm2 ), SCC SP 1.5% (506.86 Kg/Cm2 ), SCC SP 2% (456.54 Kg/Cm2 ), SCC SP 1%+SBM 10% (430.99 Kg/Cm2 ), SCC SP 1.5%+SBM 10% (492.05 Kg/Cm2 ), SCC SP 2%+SBM 10% (445.58 Kg/Cm2 ) at the age of 28 days. Of the 7 sample variations tested showed the highest characteristic compressive strength variation in the use of 1.5% Superplasticizer with characteristic compressive strength of 506.86 Kg/Cm2 at the age of 28 days.
