Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of rainwater utilization as an alternative clean water supply in the Griya Lembah Hijau Housing Complex, Sako District, Palembang City. The study was conducted by analyzing rainfall data from 2021–2025, building roof area, household water demand, and the capacity of the Rainwater Harvesting (PAH) system. The research method used was a descriptive quantitative method through calculations of rainwater potential and household clean water needs. Rainwater volume calculations were based on rainfall data, a roof area of 63 m², and a roof runoff coefficient of 0.80. The water demand analysis used the domestic water requirement standard of 120 liters/person/day. The results showed that rainwater potential at the study site is sufficient to be utilized as an alternative clean water supply. Based on the analysis, 159 houses were categorized as adequate and 246 houses were categorized as inadequate, out of a total of 405 houses studied. The PAH analysis results showed a total rainwater inflow volume of 140,832 liters per year, exceeding the water demand of 43,800 liters per year. This indicates that the rainwater harvesting system has good potential as an alternative household water source. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that rainwater utilization in the Griya Lembah Hijau Housing Complex can help meet the community's clean water needs and reduce dependence on groundwater. However, its effectiveness is still influenced by the number of occupants, the storage capacity, and rainfall conditions.
