Abstract

The increase in economi growth has led to a greater need for road infrastructure. Hower, high traffic volume, environmental conditions, and limited maintenance have caused road damage that needs to be evaluated. This study aims to analyze the level and causes of road damage on the Sumatra Highway in Gunung Liwat Village, Pengandonan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method through a visual survey. The results are expected to provide a basis for road maintenance and repair. The objective of this study is to assess the condition of the Sumatra Highway from STA 0+000 to STA 4+000. The research was conducted using a visual inspection with the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method. The 4 km road section was divided into 100-meter segments. Each segment was evaluated by measuring the dimensions of the damage and identifying the type and severity of the pavement distress to determine the PCI value. The results showed that the types of damage found were potholes, alligator cracking, shoving, and patches. The average PCI value of the Sumatra Highway in Gunung Liwat Village (STA 0+000–4+000) was classified as Fair. Therefore, the recommended treatment is patching and overlay before the road damage becomes more severe.
