Abstract

This study aimed to analyze problems in the drainage system in Puncak Sekuning, Ilir Barat I District, Palembang City, and to determine the ability of the drainage channels to accommodate maximum runoff discharge. The study also aimed to evaluate the hydraulic capacity of existing drainage channels and determine the necessary improvements to ensure that the channels can convey the design discharge effectively. The research method involved hydrological and hydraulic analyses using rainfall data, catchment area conditions, runoff discharge, and existing drainage channel dimensions. Channel capacity was analyzed using the Manning equation with a roughness coefficient of 0.015. The design discharge was determined based on a 2-year return period and then compared with the capacity of each tertiary and secondary drainage channel. The evaluation considered sedimentation conditions and channel cross-sectional dimensions. The results showed that the maximum discharges in tertiary channels T1–T6 were 1.711, 1.686, 2.058, 1.967, 1.830, and 1.638 m³/s, respectively, while those in secondary channels S1, S2, and S3 were 2.290, 1.548, and 1.883 m³/s, respectively. Existing channel capacities were insufficient due to sedimentation and limited dimensions. After improvement, capacities increased to 1.745, 1.765, 2.281, 2.104, 1.853, 1.820, 3.072, 2.103, and 2.925 m³/s, respectively. Therefore, all improved channels were able to meet the hydraulic capacity requirements for the design discharge. Keywords: Puncak Sekuning, Design Rainfall, Runoff Discharge, Hydraulic
