Abstract

SUMMARY MUHAMMAD DARUSALAM. Factors Influencing the Interest of the Younger Generation in Coconut Farming in Pengestu Village, Makarti Jaya District, Banyuasin Regency. Supervised by SISVABERTI AFRIYATNA and NOVI APRIANI. The objective of this study was to determine the interest of the younger generation in engaging in coconut farming and to identify the factors influencing that interest in Pengestu Village, Makarti Jaya District, Banyuasin Regency. A survey method was employed for this research. The sampling method used was a census (saturated sampling). Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data processing involved editing, coding, and tabulation, while data analysis utilized a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The results indicate that the interest of the younger generation in coconut farming in Pengestu Village assessed through ten statementswas predominantly positive regarding engagement in this activity. Furthermore, family income from the agricultural sector (X2), family support (X3), and peer influence (X4) had a significant and positive partial effect on the younger generation's interest in coconut farming; conversely, the level of education (X1) did not have a significant partial effect on their interest
