Abstract

ABSTRACT Muhammad Iskandar Saputra1, Muhammad Arfan2, Sri Martini3 Clay soil is a type of soil that has low bearing capacity. The function of soil as a building foundation requires stable soil conditions. Therefore, the soil needs to be treated specially to improve the poor properties of the soil by means of stabilization. The purpose of soil stabilization is to increase the bearing capacity of the soil. One other alternative for the stability of Soft clay soil is to add red brick powder to the soil. This red brick powder has a content that can make the stability value of the soil high where when mixed with red brick powder it will strengthen the bearing capacity value of the soil. The variations of the red brick powder mixture used are 0%, 10%, 12%, and 14% of the dry soil weight with a curing time of 0, 7, and 14 days. The study showed that the unconfined compressive strength value continued to increase to the highest limit occurring in a mixture of 14% red brick powder, which was 0.88252 kg/m2 or kPa against the original soil and increased by 134.60% against the original soil, so the unconfined compressive strength value was influenced by the addition of mixture variations where the largest unconfined compressive strength value occurred in a mixture variation of 14% with a curing time of 14 days.
